Franchise FAQ
We get calls from HVAC techs and business-minded owners who want to run a shop that does better. This page answers the questions we hear most about opening a Brandt HVAC location. No fluff, no hard sell. Just straight answers from people who have been in the trade since 2003.
Common Questions
Do I need prior HVAC experience to open a Brandt HVAC franchise?
You need either a strong working knowledge of residential HVAC or a business partner who has it. Most of our owners come from the trade, typically with five to ten years of field or service-management time behind them. If you’re a general manager or operations person without a license, we’ll help you recruit and retain a licensed lead technician, but the owner needs to understand the work deeply enough to quote jobs and protect the brand.
What is the total investment range to open a location?
You should plan for a total initial investment in the low six figures, with a meaningful portion required in liquid capital. That covers your first service vehicle, tools and diagnostic equipment, initial inventory, signage, training travel, and working capital to carry you through the first months while you build a customer base. We don’t publish a single fixed number because build-out choices vary by market, and we’d rather walk you through the range in a conversation than surprise you later. Call (984) 538-9003 and we’ll go line by line.
Is financing available?
We do not offer in-house financing, but we can introduce you to lending relationships that have worked with home-service franchise owners before. Most candidates use a combination of personal savings, an SBA loan, or a home-equity line. We’ll help you build the business plan and pro forma numbers lenders want to see, because our interest is in getting you open, not in watching you scramble for capital.
Do I get a protected territory or exclusivity?
Yes. Each Brandt HVAC location receives a defined service territory with a radius sized to support a full-time schedule without cannibalizing a neighboring location. The exact boundaries depend on population density, drive times, and where existing locations operate. Once your territory is set, it’s yours, and no other Brandt location will market into it.
How long does training take?
Plan for three to four weeks before you open your doors, split between classroom-style operations training and field shadowing with an established location. Training covers our quoting process, the written-price discipline, the 365-Day Done Right Promise, technician background-check and identity-verification protocols, and the tech-name-and-photo-before-visit standard. You’ll spend real time on a truck, watching how a Brandt job runs from first call to final invoice.
What ongoing fees or royalties does Brandt HVAC charge?
There is a monthly royalty based on a percentage of gross revenue, plus a marketing contribution that funds brand-level advertising and lead generation. We don’t layer on surprise fees, and we don’t charge a separate technology fee for our scheduling and dispatch tools. The exact percentages are itemized in the Franchise Disclosure Document, and before you sign anything we’ll show you a simple worksheet so you can model what those fees look like against projected revenue in your market.
How long does it take to open once I sign?
Most owners open within three to six months from the day they sign their franchise agreement. The biggest variables are securing your vehicle and equipment, finding a small commercial space or running a home-based operation depending on local rules, and completing training. Some candidates open faster. We’d rather you open a week later with everything dialed in than open early and fumble your first ten calls.
What support do I get after opening?
You get a support team that answers the phone when you call, not a voicemail tree. That includes help with hiring and background-checking technicians, guidance on local permitting, a shared parts-vendor network, coaching on pricing jobs for your specific market, and a peer group of other Brandt owners who compare notes on what’s working. We also run brand-level marketing that feeds leads into your territory. You run the business. You’re not running it alone.
What kind of person is the ideal Brandt HVAC owner?
The best fit is someone who already knows how to fix a furnace at two in the morning but is ready to run a business instead of just turning wrenches. You should be comfortable quoting a price to a homeowner’s face, holding your technicians to a written standard, and treating every open call as a small test of your reputation. If you cringe at the idea of sending a tech’s name and photo before a visit, this is probably not the right fit. If that standard sounds like the reason you got into the trade, you’ll feel at home here.
What’s the next step if I’m interested?
Call (984) 538-9003 and ask for the franchise team. We’ll schedule a short introductory call to learn about your background, answer the big questions about investment and territory, and if it feels like a fit on both sides, we’ll send you the Franchise Disclosure Document to review with your own attorney and accountant. No obligation, no pressure, and no closing tricks. Just a conversation about whether this is the right shop for you to build.
Still Have Questions?
The best way to get real answers is to talk to us directly. Call (984) 538-9003 and ask for the franchise team. Prefer to write things out? Submit the form below and we’ll get back to you within one business day. Either way, you’ll be talking to a person, not a script.
